The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a revision to its media accreditation process, allowing accredited journalists covering polling stations to use the same credentials for access to Constituency and Regional Collation Centres.
In a press release issued on December 2, 2024, the EC stated that the change, effective Saturday, December 7, 2024, follows consultations with media stakeholders.
The revision aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the electoral process by granting media personnel greater flexibility in their coverage.
“The revised media accreditation underscores our commitment to ensuring the media can effectively report on the electoral process,” said Benjamin Bano-Bioh, Director for Electoral Services at the EC.
The commission assured the public that arrangements for media access to the National Collation Centre would be communicated soon. This update reflects the EC’s dedication to fostering openness and maintaining public confidence in its operations.
