Joseph Blankson Adumadzie, an Electoral Commission staff member, has formally petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to remove Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, along with her two deputies, Dr. Bossman Eric Asare and Mr. Samuel Tettey.

The petition alleges twelve counts of misbehaviour, including cronyism, abuse of office, and gross incompetence.

In a statement issued by Adumadzie, he confirmed submitting the petition under Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, which grants the President authority to act on complaints regarding public officials.

Though he refrained from revealing detailed contents of the petition due to legal constraints, he emphasized that the multiple charges collectively threaten the credibility, independence, and integrity of Ghana’s electoral system.

“The misbehaviours cited have severely undermined public confidence in the Electoral Commission,” the statement read.

Adumadzie described his action as being in the “supreme interest of the 1992 Constitution, accountable governance, and preservation of the dignity of the Electoral Commission.”

He urged President Mahama to fulfill his constitutional duty by referring the petition to the Chief Justice to determine if there is a prima facie case against the officials involved.

Adumadzie concluded by reaffirming his commitment to uphold transparency, fairness, and integrity within Ghana’s democratic institutions.
