The Electoral Commission (EC) is expected in Parliament today, Friday, July 19, 2024, to brief the members on preparations towards the 2024 General Elections in December.
Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako who presided over the House on Thursday July 18, called for the briefing upon a request from members to ascertain the level preparedness by the commission ahead of the elections.
Members of Parliament have expressed a keen interest in the electoral management body’s readiness, prompting this engagement.
The briefing is expected to cover various aspects of the EC’s preparations, including logistical arrangements, voter registration updates, and measures to ensure a free and fair electoral processes.
“We will be meeting the Electoral Commission, they are going to be here at our instance, we have invited them to come and brief us on the preparations they have made so far towards the 2024 elections.
“If you have any issue relating to the EC, just come and ask, it’s not going to be a banter, we’re going to respectfully enquire about what they are doing. So, let’s prepare and come and meet them,” he said.
