ECG begins operation “no free consumption” exercise

Beginning today Thursday, February 1, 2024, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is disconnecting power to individuals or customers who use electricity without paying.

Beginning today Thursday, February 1, 2024, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is disconnecting power to individuals or customers who use electricity without paying.

The exercise dubbed operation ‘No Free Consumption,’ will involve ECG teams in the field updating customer details such as phone numbers and GPS addresses, collecting any arrears, and disconnecting for non-payment of arrears.

According to ECG, it has set out various revenue mobilization strategies which will help the company fish out customers who owe and use power without paying.

Additionally, the company is determined to collect all arrears and prosecute individuals if necessary.

Meanwhile, the operation “No Free Consumption” is expected to run for two weeks across the country ending on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
