The Ministry of Education has launched an investigation into allegations circulating on social media that placement into Aburi Girls’ Senior High School costs GHC15,000.
The claim, attributed to one Gertrude Adzo Borklo, suggests that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Computerized School Placement System is being sold.
The Ministry, however, has dismissed the allegation as false and described it as part of a “conspiratorial narrative” aimed at undermining the credibility of the system.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Ministry said all attempts to reach the author of the post had been unsuccessful, as her account was deactivated shortly after publication. It further noted that other anonymous accounts have been amplifying similar claims.
The Ministry indicated it is collaborating with National Security, the Cyber Security Authority, and other agencies to track down those behind the allegations.
Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, who signed the statement, stressed that the placement process is entirely free of charge.
