Edward Abambire Bawa, a distinguished figure in Ghana’s energy sector and public service, has been reassigned as Group CEO of Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL), effective immediately.
The appointment is part of President John Dramani Mahama’s broader strategy to restructure and enhance the energy sector.
Bawa’s new role at GOIL underscores his extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, making him a strategic choice for the leadership position.
A native of Bongo-Lungu in the Upper East Region, Bawa has an impressive academic background. He began his education by passing the Common Entrance Examination in 1986 before obtaining his Ordinary Level (O-Level) certificate in 1991 and Advanced Level (A-Level) certificate in 1993. He later earned a Bachelor of Education in Chemistry from the University of Cape Coast in 2002 and pursued a Master of Business Administration in Business Finance from the University of Liverpool in 2007.
His professional development includes specialized training in communications and risk management, earning certificates in Development Communications (2012) and Risk Communications (2014). Additionally, he has completed postgraduate programs at prestigious institutions such as the Harvard School of Public Health, the University of Southern California, and Setym International.
Bawa’s appointment is expected to bring strong leadership to GOIL, leveraging his vast expertise to drive the company’s growth and reinforce its position in Ghana’s energy sector.
