Management of the The Excellence in Broadcasting (EIB) Network,  have broken silence for the first time since the controversy surrounding one of their on TV personalities, Serwaa Amihere, broke out.

The broadcaster has been a subject of discussion in Ghana over the past week, after a video of her with a man popularly known as Henry Fitz was widely circulated on social media.

Following the incident, the Police Service filed charges against three individuals accused of sharing an intimate video of the broadcast journalist.

The accused persons include Edem Saviour Ketti, Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, and Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz.

According to a charge sheet released on April 8, 2024, the said persons have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, specifically the non-consensual sharing of intimate images, contrary to Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29), as well as Section 67(1)(2) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 (Act 1038).

In violation of Section 66(1) of the Cyber Security Act 2020, they have also been charged with sexual extortion.

However, a statement released by the EIB on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, noted that they have began an independent investigation into the matter.

“We are also aware that criminal proceeding have been instituted by the state against certain persons who are alleged to have published the said video. This has delayed our public comment on this issue,” part of the statement read.

“Management has also decided to conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the release of the video.”

The EIB has however, promised to make its findings public, reassuring the public of their commitment to integrity and accountability.

“The Company will accordingly publish the findings of the independent investigation as soon as same is completed, and further measures will be taken thereafter.

“The EIB brand remains steadfast in its commitment to integrity and accountability and appreciates the continuous support of our stakeholders.”
