The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the temporary suspension of the re-collation of Presidential and Parliamentary election results.
The exercise, which was taking place at the Tesano Police Depot, was intended to address issues in constituencies where the collation process did not adhere to the legal framework under C.I. 127 or where collation on Election Day remained incomplete.
In a statement issued by Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman for Operations at the EC, the decision to pause the re-collation stems from disruptions caused by Political Party supporters during the initial collation processes on Election Day and the subsequent days.
The Commission emphasized that the Tesano Police Depot was selected as the re-collation venue after consultations and agreement with the Inspector General of Police and his team.
This decision was communicated to all Political Parties in advance, and their agents were present to observe the process.
According to the EC, the collation and declaration of results for the Fanteakwa North, Akwatia, and Suhum constituencies were successfully completed on December 12.
“We urge all stakeholders to collaborate with the Commission as we carry out our mandate,” the statement read.
The EC has assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring a transparent and credible process and will provide updates as soon as the re-collation exercise resumes.
