The Accra Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Isaac Addo, has granted bail to Adams Sackey, a 30-year-old electrician, in the amount of GH₵40,000 with two sureties.

Sackey faces charges of fraudulently selling a half plot of land in Ablekuma to Kingsford Mensah for GH₵40,000, despite lacking a title to the property.

Sackey pleaded guilty to the charge but the court entered a plea of not guilty. The case was adjourned to 3rd December 2024.

Chief Inspector Teye-Okutto, representing the prosecution, informed the court that the complainant, Kingsford Mensah, is a driver residing in Ablekuma.

In April 2024, Mensah was introduced to Sackey, who claimed he could assist him in purchasing land. Sackey informed Mensah that he had a half plot available at Ablekuma Junction for GH₵40,000.

After viewing the property, Mensah expressed interest and paid Sackey GH₵37,000, agreeing to pay the remaining GH₵3,000 once he received the necessary documents for the land.

Mensah began preparations to develop the site but was subsequently halted by the Asafoatse of Ablekuma, who asserted ownership of the land.

Mensah reported the issue to Sackey, who promised to resolve it with the Asafoatse.

However, after months of inaction, Mensah reported the matter to the police, leading to Sackey’s arrest.

Sackey admitted to having collected the payment but requested additional time to settle the issue, which he failed to do.

He refunded only GH₵10,000, leaving a balance of GH₵27,000 owed to Mensah.

Following the investigation, Sackey was charged and arraigned before the court, where the bail was granted.
