The Government has condemned the enskinment of a new Bawku Naba in Nalerigu.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Information, the government describes the enskinment of the new Bawku Naba as illegal and a threat to National Security.

In the early hours of Wednesday, February 15, 2023, the king of the Mamprugu Traditional area Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai Sherigah II enskinned a new Bawku Naba.

The new Bawku Naba is believed to be Alhaji Seidu Abagre was enskinned in the Nayiri palace in Nalerigu.

The statement also reiterated that Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II is the Bawku Naba, duly gazetted and a member of the National and Upper East Regional Houses of Chiefs therefore the only recognized Bawku Naba.

Government has therefore directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute any other person who holds himself out as a Bawku Naba.
