Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has advised the New Patriotic Party’s running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) to remain humble and be a listening vice presidential candidate.

During the official unveiling of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as running mate in Kumasi on Tuesday, the Asantehene also charged the energy minister to do as he is told by his superior.

“Don’t make Dr. Bawumia regret choosing you as his running mate. As you go, be a good servant and do as you are told”, Asantehene stressed.

Commenting on rumors suggesting NAPO’s alleged disobedience and arrogance, the revered King stated he must prove Ghanaians wrong.

“Some have said that you are disobedient. It’s a surprise to me because I didn’t see that when I was training you. Why is it that people are now complaining that you have become a disobedient person?

“I will pardon you and say that it is not the case, but don’t let that also be the description people give you”.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (born 23 May 1968) is a Ghanaian medical doctor and politician.

Until is nomination as the running mate, he was the Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South constituency in the Ashanti region.

He is also a former education minister and currently serves as the Minister of Energy.
