Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo has taken a swipe at the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, criticizing its “Year of Roads” initiative and accusing it of prioritizing slogans over tangible development.
Speaking during the 2025 budget debate on March 18, Adongo argued that the NPP’s much-publicized infrastructure agenda failed to deliver meaningful results.
He pointed out that, during election periods, even vehicles belonging to NPP Members of Parliament (MPs) got stuck in their constituencies due to poor roads.
Adongo contrasted this with the current government’s “Big Push” initiative, which he said is aimed at large-scale infrastructure development.
He noted that initial funding for the project has already been secured, signalling a commitment to real progress rather than rhetoric.
He further asserted that the current administration is focused on reviving the economy and improving the lives of Ghanaians, in contrast to what he described as the economic mismanagement of the previous government.
The budget debate continues as lawmakers deliberate on the government’s financial plans for the coming year.
