A 36-year-old man, Emmanuel Klutse, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly breaking into his former employer’s car and stealing GH¢50,000.

The prosecution revealed that the incident occurred on December 4, 2024, when the complainant, a procurement officer at Kasapreko Company Limited, left the cash in his car parked at the company premises. CCTV footage reportedly showed Klutse using a spare key to unlock the vehicle and take the money.

The court, presided over by Mr. Isaac Addo, granted Klutse bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. He pleaded not guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing.

Chief Inspector Josephine Mptey, prosecuting, disclosed that Klutse, who had worked as the complainant’s driver for seven years before their relationship ended, retained a spare key to the vehicle. Police investigations revealed that Klutse shared the stolen money with two accomplices who are currently at large.

Klutse reportedly admitted to the crime during police interrogation, stating he used part of his share, GH¢15,000, to pay off debts. The case has been adjourned to February 12, 2025, for further hearing.
