Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will today, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, present the first budget of the Mahama administration to Parliament.
The highly anticipated budget is expected to outline the government’s economic policies, expenditure plans, and strategies aimed at stabilizing the economy.
The budget will also provide a full breakdown of the economy and the government’s policy proposals to reset and facilitate Ghana’s economic transformation agenda in line with Mahama’s vision.
Report indicates that key sectors such as taxation, foreign exchange management, and agriculture are among areas of keen interest to stakeholders.
Speaking ahead of the presentation, the Chairman of the Trade Advocacy Group-Ghana (TAGG), Kwadwo Amoateng, voiced the expectations of the business community.
In an interview on AP Midday News, he called for the abolition of the e-levy and COVID-19 levy, a reduction in excessive import duties, and concrete measures to stabilize the cedi against the dollar.
Meanwhile, the President of the Wassa Cocoa Farmers’ Cooperative Union, Nana Acheampong, has urged the government to increase cocoa prices. According to him, such a move would help sustain cocoa farmers and make the sector more attractive to the youth.
As the nation awaits the budget presentation, expectations remain high regarding policies that will drive economic recovery and improve livelihoods.
