Fairfield College, a Medicine Counter Assistant training school has held its 3rd grand graduation ceremony in Accra on Saturday, 26th November 2022.
The College specifically provides education and training for persons and individuals willing to join the health profession.
The graduation ceremony saw the college present certificates to over 100 students to help assist them in securing a job.
The college provides a six-month (6) course programme. The six months are split into two; 3 months for theoretical training and 3 months for strict and compulsory attachment at any well-recognized health institution or Pharmacy.
Speaking to a team of Pressmen, the Director for Fairfield College, Dr Ofori Tenkorang stressed that the school is focused on training its students on Professional ethics and customer relations to render good practices to their clients.
“Fairfield College, we train our students in professional ethics and how to relate to customers. The client may not be feeling well and at the end of the day if the pharmacist render good services, the person will refer other people to your pharmacy. Through that, Fairfield College gives the best pharmaceutical care training and we try to bridge both theory and practicals and that’s why we send them to pharmacy and hospitals for training”,
The director urged the students to deploy all the training and skills they have acquired and serve their clients wholeheartedly. He further called on the students to stay humble and learn from their superiors.
Students at Fairfield College after completion are required to write Pharmacy Council exams twice a year to boost their confidence in the profession.
Fairfield College has two branches; the Accra and Nkawkaw campuses.
The College during the graduation awarded some students who put up a sterling performance in their six (6) months of acquired knowledge with the school.
National Chairman of the Community Practice Pharmacists Association in Ghana, Dr. Emmanuel Kwaku Ireland also called on the students to emulate good behaviour to secure them in order to secure them good jobs.
“What I will tell the students is that in most cases we secure jobs with certificates but at the end of the day, their behaviour will not allow them to stay at the job. I’m advising that they may have the technical knowledge of the job and that forms about 20% of the job because your attitude, your behaviour and how you relate with your colleagues would help you do well in the company or Pharmacy. It’s good to have good communication skills, and good customer service skills but more importantly, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are more needed. They should go the extra mile, let’s be proactive and then, with that, they will succeed in their field of work”, he added.
