An 18-year-old Junior High School graduate has been denied admission into Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School after it was revealed he is a traditional priest.
This comes after similar issue regarding two teenage students whose admissions were also withdrawn by Achimota Senior High School because of their dreadlocks.
Galley Felix, who wore a cap after being initiated as Togbui Tueve Awunyo II of Ative (ativɛ), in the Ketu North Municipality to school was also rejected by administrators regardless of being placed by the Computerised School Selection and Placement System.
The issue caused public uproar on social media with many people describing the situation as discriminatory.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the GES, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwah has taken remedial action directing the authorities of Achimota Senior High School to admit the two teenage Rastafarians.
He told the Daily Graphic that the Head is not within the law to withdraw the admissions of the students on the basis that they are wearing dreadlocks.
