The much-anticipated 4th edition of Mr. & Miss Autism Ghana unfolded over the weekend at the prestigious 3Music TV premises.
Spearheaded by the indefatigable Miss Afi Antonio, founder of The Afi Antonio Foundation, the event aimed to elevate awareness surrounding autism spectrum disorder.
In a touching moment, attendees paid homage to the late Vincent McCauley, whose unwavering support had been pivotal to the event’s success.
However, amidst the bittersweet atmosphere, Miss Antonio revealed that this year marked the final chapter of the beloved initiative.
In a heartfelt gesture, all participating children were crowned as autism champions, symbolizing their resilience and spirit.
Reflecting on the decision to conclude the event, Miss Antonio lamented the ongoing challenges in securing sponsorship, citing dwindling financial support as a significant hurdle. Despite her tireless efforts to bridge the funding gap, she also highlighted obstacles posed by certain autism centre owners, hindering full participation from children in the event.
Amidst a backdrop of stirring performances by acclaimed artists such as gospel sensation Jayana, world semi-finalist poet Twita Lite, and traditional poet Kwame Adasah, the children showcased their remarkable talents.

From multilingual recitations to captivating modelling and soul-stirring musical renditions, each performance underscored the extraordinary abilities within the autism community.
As the curtains closed on this final chapter, emotions ran high among parents and supporters, with many expressing a desire for the event to continue.
However, Miss Antonio affirmed her unwavering commitment to advocating for autism awareness beyond the event’s conclusion, assuring that her departure from the stage did not signify an end to her advocacy.
In a rallying cry to corporate entities, there is a plea to rally behind Miss Antonio and her foundation, ensuring the legacy of this impactful initiative endures.
For those touched by the beauty and resilience showcased at Mr. & Miss Autism Ghana, the hope remains alive for a future where acceptance and inclusivity reign supreme.
