The family of the late Ghanaian Highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has announced a new date for his final funeral ceremony, now set for December 13, 2025.

The decision follows a family dispute over the initial funeral arrangements, which had been scheduled for December 6, 2025. Tensions arose between the family head, Kofi Owusu, and the musician’s elder sister, Ernestina Fosu, who petitioned the Saamanhene of the Asantehene’s Traditional Council after invoking Otumfuo’s “Ntam Kese” against the family head.

Ernestina alleged that she had been excluded from key funeral decisions and demanded the dissolution of the original funeral committee. She also called for the recognition of the late musician’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, as the sole legitimate widow.

Following appearances by both Kofi Owusu and Ernestina Fosu before the traditional council on November 10, 2025, the council dissolved the initial funeral committee and upheld the new burial date. Additionally, Ernestina has been tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding her brother’s death.

However, the council clarified that it cannot adjudicate on the widowhood rites, as the late musician’s wives are currently in court over the matter, and advised that the courts should determine the rightful party to perform the rites.

The new arrangement seeks to ensure a peaceful and orderly final funeral for the celebrated musician, following weeks of family disagreements and public attention.
