Firefighters led by ASTNO Bernard Kwamitse from the Ho Municipal Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to an industrial fire at the Agatex Paint Factory, Tsawenu near Ho, arriving within minutes after receiving the distress call at 11:30 a.m.
With reinforcement from the Regional Headquarters, the fire was brought under control at 1:00 p.m. and fully extinguished at 4:00 p.m. The blaze was confined to parts of the roof and walls, preventing its spread and saving critical production machinery.
Preliminary findings indicate the fire started from the chemical storage area and spread to other parts of the facility which has been non-operational for nearly 4 years. The exact cause of fire remains under investigation.
Two (2) vehicles (a pick-up and a saloon car) parked within the premises were destroyed. The cause remains under investigation. No casualties were recorded.
The Volta Regional Commander, ACFO II Joseph Tetteh Freeman, and Ho Municipal Commander were on scene, providing technical direction and operational support.
Owners of unused buildings are urged to practice proper housekeeping, safely store chemicals, and disconnect electricity to prevent fire outbreaks.
