The Nsuta Circuit Court has sentenced five men to a combined 195 years imprisonment with hard labour after finding them guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and armed robbery in two separate criminal cases.

The court, presided over by His Honour Simon Nketia Gagah, delivered the sentences after the prosecution successfully established the involvement of the convicts in a series of robbery-related offences.

Kofi Adu, also known as “K2,” received the heaviest punishment among the group. He was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment on each of the two counts in the first case and 50 years on each count in the second case.

Another convict, Owusu Patrick, popularly called “Ike,” was handed 20 years imprisonment on both counts in the first case and 40 years on both counts in the second case.

The remaining three convicts — Francis Obeng, alias “Amarni,” Karim Nurudeen, alias “Kusheshe,” and Akwasi Agyei, also known as “Show Boy” — were each sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on both counts in the two cases.

The court noted that the sentences imposed on Kofi Adu and Owusu Patrick were increased due to their previous criminal convictions, which the judge considered during sentencing.

His Honour Gagah further ordered that all the sentences should run concurrently, meaning the convicts will serve the prison terms simultaneously rather than consecutively.
