Five personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have reportedly been injured in a road accident early on Sunday, January 11, 2026, while responding to a fire in Buipe township in the Savannah Region.
The Savannah Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, DOII Salisu Mohammed Sirilbaini, confirmed the incident to the media.
According to him, the Buipe Fire Station had received a distress call reporting a surface fire, prompting the immediate dispatch of fire officers.
However, the fire engine veered off the road and tipped over upon arrival, injuring the five firefighters.
The injured personnel were taken to the Buipe Government Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
He indicated that the injured officers are currently in stable condition.
