Five serving police officers have been interdicted after footage of them engaged in misconduct began circulating widely across social media platforms.
The disciplinary action follows a preliminary assessment of the videos, which the Service claims have brought the institution’s reputation into significant disrepute.
The interdicted personnel include high-ranking subordinates, notably Chief Inspector Matthew Blay and Chief Inspector Francis Arthur.
Also cited in the directive are Inspector Eric Osei, stationed at the Osu Police Station in Accra, Sergeant Amos Dery of the National Protection Unit, and Inspector Joseph Okyere Asabre from the Obuasi Police District.
A statement signed by the Director-General of Public Affairs, Deputy Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, confirmed that all five individuals have been handed over to the Police Professional Standards Bureau.
This department is tasked with conducting a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the recordings to determine the extent of the breaches in line with internal disciplinary protocols.
The Police Administration has used this development to remind the public of its dedication to the values of integrity and accountability.
