The National Organizer for Friends of Bawumia (FOB’08), Rev George Opoku Acheampong has denounced his political support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Candidate who lost heavily in the 2024 general elections.
The well – groomed, experienced and energetic organizer has now affirmed his support to Bryan Acheampong, the immediate – past Agric Minister and MP for Abetifi to lead the party in the 2028 general elections.
According to Rev Opoku, his decisive position was well thought before taking a stand on whom to support for the Presidential candidate bid of the NPP.
“Hon Bryan Acheampong comes with fresh innovations and ideas, and I think it is time to support him if only NPP want to win back power in 2028. Bryan Acheampong has all the qualities to lead the party, considering the current status of the NPP. We need someone who can win back power” Rev George Opoku Acheampong emphasized.
He indicated that “Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a fine gentleman, however it is unfortunate he’s still being surrounded by the very same people who made him lose the 2024 elections. And that is not good for a party that is reorganizing after a heavy defeat”.
He opined that the NPP needs a new face, a strong force to reckon with, to make it more attractive again to Ghanaians, hence the need to consider the bid of Bryan Acheampong to lead the party.
Rev George Opoku Acheampong is now the National President for “Bryan Acheampong for 2028′ (BA’28) and also vying to be the Eastern Regional organizer of the NPP.
Although, the Abetifi Legislator is yet to officially declare his intention to contest the party’s Flag bearer race ahead of the 2028 general elections, he has already formed an exploratory committee to discuss, assess and come out with a report within 30 days to ensure his vision, that of Ghanaians and the NPP party aligns with his vision simultaneously.
