The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs, Hon. Jasaw Seidu Godfred has disclosed that the Committee will do everything possible within its mandate to support the operations of Tree Crop Development Authority (TCDA).
The Chairman made this known when the Committee paid a visit to TCDA as part of its three – day familiarisation visits to various agencies under the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs.
In his presentation to the Committee, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TCDA, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, noted that floor price mechanisms developed for coconut, cashew, oil Palm, rubber, Mango and shea are among many activities executed by TCDA.
In addition, he revealed that the Ghana Tree Crop Diversification Project and Ghana Private Sector Competitiveness Program are among the many projects led by TCDA across various regions of Ghana.
However, Dr. Osei Okrah mentioned some challenges being faced by the Authority. They include limited staffing and technical capacity, inadequate funding, weak data and information systems.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Jasaw Seidu Godfred noted that the Committee will continue to visit TCDA and work to enhance cooperation between the Authority and the Committee.
