Footballer Samuel Inkoom has been granted bail by a Circuit Court in Accra in the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety.
Presided over by Judge Isaac Addo, the court heard that Inkoom is facing a charge of defrauding by false pretence.
The footballer pleaded not guilty and is set to reappear before the court on December 30, 2024.
The case is being prosecuted by Jonas Laweh.
Brief Facts of the Case:
The complainant, Benyamm Opare-Addo, a student residing in Adenta, approached the accused, Samuel Inkoom, who claimed to own S. Inkoom Travel and Tour Company, to facilitate his travel abroad for further studies.
The accused reportedly convinced the complainant that he could secure a Netherlands visa at a cost of $3,500, presenting himself as an operator of a legitimate travel and tour business.
Between September and November 2023, the complainant made payments totaling GH¢32,100 in installments to the accused, with the assurance that the visa would be delivered within a month.
However, the accused failed to fulfill his promise.
After several unsuccessful attempts to recover either the visa or his money, the complainant reported the matter to the police, leading to the accused’s arrest on January 11, 2024.
During police investigations, Inkoom admitted to the offense and partially refunded GH¢7,000 on April 9, 2024, with a promise to settle the remaining GH¢25,100 within a month, which he failed to do.
Following investigations, the accused was charged and arraigned before the court.
