The Deputy Chief Executive of Forestry Commission, Mr. Nyadia Sulemana Nelson joined the German Embassy, Gladiators Cycling Club, and other partners to plant about 700 trees at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
The tree planting exercise forms part of activities to celebrate the 2021 German Week by the German Embassy in Ghana.
The German Week is an initiative of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ghana and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana to create more awareness about “Germany in Ghana”, across diverse sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
Mr. Nyadia stated that the event of the day ties in with the vision and mission of the Forestry Commission and commended officials of the German Embassy and its partners for joining the global community in mitigating the effects of climate change through tree planting.
He used the opportunity to call on other organisations to include tree planting exercises in their Corporate Social Responsibility Activities and collaborate with the Forestry Commission to plant more trees to reverse climate change.
He added that Forestry Commission is willing and ever-ready to collaborate and assist organizations with the necessary assistance in undertaking tree planting activities across the country.
Mr. Nyadia Sulemana concluded by urging all organisations and the general public not to only plant, but grow and nurture the trees planted to maturity to fully serve the intended purposes for planting.
