The Human Resource Department (HRD) of the Forestry Commission (FC) in collaboration with the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) has organised an in-house seminar for some selected staff across the country.
The 4-day seminar was packed with insightful presentations on teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
Dr. Confidence Hommey, Organisational Psychologist and Dr. Stella Agyenim- Boateng, HR& Leadership Consult, handled the presentation on teamwork & leadership.
The presentation touched on problem-solving, critical thinking, time management, adaptability and emotional intelligence. At the end of the presentation, participants were given assignments to test their critical thinking and time management skills.
Dr. Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin, Head of the Communication Department, University of Ghana, also handled the communication skills session. The topics discussed were effective verbal, and non-verbal communication (body language), listening skills, presentation, public speaking skills and constructive feedback. Participants were divided into two groups and assigned to present on given topics which was to test their public speaking skills.
At the end of the presentations, Mrs. Anne Brown, Director, Human Resources, thanked the participants and resource persons for making the seminar a success. She admonished all participants to apply the skills learnt to improve their productivity.
The seminar was climaxed with the presentation of certificates to participants.
