The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted person in connection with multiple high-profile corruption investigations.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng announced that Ofori-Atta is required to return to Ghana immediately to face questioning over allegations of financial misconduct.
The investigations involve the controversial National Cathedral project, the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) dealings with Strategic Mobilization Ghana Ltd (SML), and two other undisclosed cases.
Agyebeng warned that failure to comply would lead to further legal measures to compel Ofori-Atta’s return. He also dismissed claims that the former minister had left the country for medical treatment, stressing that he must cooperate with the probe.
Additionally, the Special Prosecutor refuted reports that OSP officials had raided Ofori-Atta’s residence on Tuesday, February 11. Instead, he alleged that the former minister staged the raid to mislead the public and undermine the credibility of the investigation.
“The fugitive’s name is Kenneth Ofori-Atta,” Agyebeng declared, emphasizing that the former minister is being investigated for causing financial loss to the state through questionable transactions.
