Former chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Alhaji Jawula has died at the age of 74,
According to sources, Mr. Jawula passed away in Nashville in the United States of America on Saturday January 21, 2023.
He served as the chairman of the GFA from 1997 to 2001 and during his time in 1995, the Black Starlets of Ghana won the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
He played a significant role in the Ghana Premier League as Chairman of the seven-member Ghana Premier League Management Committee starting in 2019.
In a social media post, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) expressed its sadness over the event and sympathies with the family.
“We’re saddened by the news of Lepowura MND Jawula’s death.
“Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who knew him,” the FA wrote.
