Former President Akuffo Addo has expressed his grief over the sudden loss of key Government and Military officials in helicopter tragedy that occurred in the Ashanti Region.

The nation is in deep mourning following the devastating crash of a military helicopter in the Adansi area of the Ashanti region, which resulted in the deaths of several high-profile figures, including Hon. Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment and Science and six others.

Taking to his Facebook page In response to the incident, former President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo expressed profound shock and sadness over the loss.

He conveyed his deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, as well as to Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the NDC. Akufo-Addo also extended sympathies to the Ghana Air Force and the families of those lost, praising the critical role the Air Force plays in Ghana’s national security and public service.

He concluded with a heartfelt prayer, wishing the departed eternal peace in the “Bosom of the Almighty” until the day of resurrection.

The entire nation is profoundly shocked and saddened by the tragic news of the military helicopter crash that has led to the passing of Hon. Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment and Science, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the ruling NDC, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flight Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah(engineer) in the Adansi area of the Ashanti region, as announced by the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Mr. Julius Debrah, this afternoon.

I have spoken and extended my deepest condolences to the President of the Republic, HE John Dramani Mahama, Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, and to Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the NDC.

I condole with our gallant men of the Ghana Airforce at this concerning time and salute their indispensable role in the public life of our country and extend further, my condolences to the bereaved families.

May they find peaceful rest in the Bosom of the Almighty, until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again.
