The Tema Development Company (TDC) Limited has accused the Tema Central Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who previously served as a protocol officer to a former TDC Managing Director, of illegally selling a public plot of land in Tema Community 5 to his wife for GHS 2,000.

According to TDC, the land was originally designated for a public toilet facility.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Thursday, September 4, TDC Managing Director Courage Makafui Nunekpeku revealed that the officer’s contract was terminated following an internal investigation.

The land, located behind Tema Secondary School, has since been retrieved for state development purposes.

“The NPP Tema Central Constituency Secretary sold that place to his wife at the cost of GHS 2,000. The documents are with me, I can make them available. When I investigated, I engaged the woman and terminated the contract,” Mr. Nunekpeku said.

He added, “I am not grabbing any land; I am just doing the right thing for Ghanaians. I terminated that contract, and now the place is for the state to be used as a public toilet.”

On separate allegations by the Peaceful Settlers’ Association against the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly over attempts to seize lands despite a court injunction, Mr. Nunekpeku said TDC is engaging all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful resolution.
