According to preliminary reports, the Sprinter bus was travelling from Accra to Kumasi while the private car was heading in the opposite direction when one of the drivers allegedly attempted a wrongful overtaking manoeuvre, leading to a head-on collision.

The impact killed four passengers instantly at the scene, while others suffered severe injuries. Emergency responders transported the injured victims to the Konongo-Odumasi Government Hospital for urgent treatment, while additional survivors were taken to Hope Care Hospital.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Yawkwei Steward Morgue for preservation and identification.
