The former minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, turned in her resignation on Saturday, July 22, 2023, after some $1 million and other valuable items were stolen from her home in Accra.

A statement from the presidency dated July 25, 2023, disclosed that President Akufo-Addo in consultation with the Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and Highways has also appointed the Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Sekyere East, Mavis Nkansah Boadu as the new Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and MP for Tatale/Sanguli, Thomas Mbomba as the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways.

Meanwhile, the theft case is also in court with two of her housekeepers, Patience Botwe (18) and Sarah Agyei (30), standing trial for their alleged involvement in the theft.

The house helps, and their accomplices are to reappear in court on August 2, 2023.
