The Accra Regional Police Command is appealing to the public to assist in identifying two men who died in separate incidents at Mallam and Abelenkpe within the Greater Accra Region.

In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the Police disclosed that the first incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, April 13, 2025. At approximately 12:10 a.m., a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near the Mallam overpass.

According to the Police, the victim—described as a dark-complexioned man, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and believed to be in his early 50s—was wearing a black and white top over black trousers at the time of the accident.

He was rushed to the Police Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending medical officer.

His body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary, pending identification and autopsy. Efforts are ongoing to trace the victim’s identity, and members of the public with any relevant information are encouraged to contact the Odorkor Divisional MTTD or call 0554318753 or 0243333086 to assist with investigations.

In a separate incident, the Police are also investigating the discovery of a deceased male adult at Abelenkpe in Accra on the morning of Friday, May 23, 2025. The man, who was found at about 6:30 a.m., had no form of identification on him.

Superintendent Juliana Obeng indicated that the second deceased individual is believed to be in his 40s and may have been a taxi driver. He is dark in complexion, stands about 6 feet 4 inches tall, and had black hair with a shaved beard.

At the time of his discovery, he was wearing a red T-shirt with black and white patterns, khaki trousers, pink boxer shorts, and white socks.

Police say investigations are underway to determine the cause of death, and they are once again calling on the public for help in identifying the deceased. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kotobabi District or Divisional Police Command or call 0264162980 or 0244992201.

“These unfortunate incidents are being thoroughly investigated. We appeal to the public, especially families who may have a missing relative matching these descriptions, to come forward and assist us,” Superintendent Obeng stated.

The Ghana Police Service assures the public of its commitment to uncovering the identities of the deceased and urges full cooperation to aid the ongoing inquiries.
