The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Operation Calm Life and National security have seized some expired products exposed to school children at Kwabenya in the Dome Kwabenya constituency.
The Ga East Municipal NADMO Director, Seth Kofi Osei Kissi said the large quantities of assorted drinks which expired in July 2022 were openly displayed by some shops where school children and others started consuming the expired products.
The team also discovered some things that raised serious public concerns and ordered for closure of the shop immediately.
According to Mr. Osei Kissi, the shop owner indicated that the expired products were going to be disposed of but unfortunately the truck carrying the goods broke down resulting in some of the goods being left by the roadside.
The Ga East Municipal NADMO Director added that the shop owner has been apprehended and will face the law for exposing the community to such expired products.
“The situation has been controlled and the products have been disposed of properly”, he added.
He further indicated that the municipal health directorate has been informed in case of an outbreak.
