The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) after receiving treatment for injuries sustained in a road accident in the Oti Region.
He was returning to Accra from a private visit to the Yaa Naa in Tamale, a trip intended to strengthen ties among Ghana’s traditional authorities and promote collaboration across regions.
According to medical sources, the Ga Mantse escaped serious injury in the accident, while his driver suffered more severe injuries and was admitted for treatment. Health officials confirmed that the Ga Mantse is now in stable condition and able to resume his official duties in Greater Accra.
The accident drew widespread attention, and on Saturday, February 21, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama visited UGMC with a senior delegation to personally check on the Ga Mantse’s recovery and offer support.
Following his release from the hospital, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is expected to return to his official functions in the coming days. His recovery has been welcomed by members of the Greater Accra traditional council and the general public, who closely monitored developments after news of the accident emerged.
