The Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) has explained that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash-landed due to bad weather.
GAF on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, confirmed that its helicopter with registration number GHF 696 was involved in an emergency landing at Bonsukrom near Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region of Ghana.
However, a statement released by GAF indicated that there were 21 passengers on board, including staff of Ghana National Gas Company as well as the aircrew.
It explained that the incident happened while they were on duty for a routine inspection of the Atuabo Gas Plant.
Meanwhile, the GNGC in a statement dated March 19, 2024, has clarified that the incident occurred due to bad weather conditions.
“The emergency landing occurred as a result of bad weather conditions. All passengers on board have been accounted for and there were no fatalities.
“However, crew members are currently undergoing routine medical checkups.”
It added, “While assuring members of the public and our operational staff at Atuabo to remain calm, we want to assure the general public that the incident will not affect our operations.”
