The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the resumption of its 2025/2026 recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region, following last week’s stampede that left six dead and several injured.

In a release signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Navy, she urged the public to cooperate with the Armed Forces in ensuring a smooth recruitment process.

“All Greater Accra potential recruits are hereby informed that the Ghana Armed Forces 2025/2026 recruitment exercise, which was suspended last week, resumes on Thursday, 20 November 2025,” the statement announced.

Screening will be conducted at eight sub-centres across five locations, including El-Wak Stadium, Nicholson Park, Air Force Base, TRADOC in Teshie, and Eastern Naval Command in Tema.

The press release emphasized that each batch of 600 applicants will receive SMS notifications specifying their reporting dates and designated centres.

“Applicants are strongly advised to strictly adhere to these instructions. Any qualified applicant who does not receive a text message by Thursday, 20 November 2025, should call the helpline on Mobile Number 0256405104 or WhatsApp on 0256405154 for assistance,” it added.

Families and friends are also cautioned against accompanying recruits to the centres to reduce congestion.

In response to the stampede, the GAF has set up a Board of Inquiry.

“To allow for fair and transparent investigations by the Board, the entire Greater Accra Recruitment team has been replaced,” the statement noted, adding that new officials have assumed key positions in Human Resources, Manpower, and IT. “Anyone found culpable from the Inquiry will be sanctioned accordingly,” the military assured.

The GAF extended its condolences to bereaved families and wished injured recruits a speedy recovery.

“All injured will continue to receive free medical services at 37 Military Hospital until they recover. Additionally, a special recruitment package will be offered to all injured after full recovery and also to the bereaved families,” the statement said.

Meanwhile six recruits who were injured during the screening exercise at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi have been successfully treated and discharged from the hospital.
