The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is set to embark on a major expansion drive, with plans to recruit 12,000 personnel over the next three years to strengthen the country’s defence capabilities.

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, disclosed the initiative in a social media post on Saturday, describing it as part of government’s efforts to build a force that reflects the strength, discipline, and unity of Ghana.

According to him, the cost of recruitment forms has been slashed by more than 40 percent compared to the last exercise, in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to affordability, accessibility, and fairness.

Recruitment will also be conducted across all regions to ensure equal opportunity and national inclusion.

The deputy minister cautioned the public against falling victim to fraudulent recruitment schemes, stressing that the process is not for sale.

“Recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces is NOT for sale—and will NEVER be for sale under our #EagleEyes watch.

Any individual or syndicate involved in fraudulent recruitment schemes will be dealt with without mercy,” he warned.

He further clarified that no recruitment will be conducted via social media platforms.

Details on qualifications, application procedures, and regional recruitment centers are expected to be published within the week through the Ministry of Defence website, the Ghana Armed Forces website, selected newspapers, and other electronic platforms.

The exercise comes as part of government’s broader plan to reinforce national security while ensuring transparency and professionalism in the recruitment process.
