Residents of Amaadaa, a farming community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region have declared war against mining company over uncovered pits claiming lives.
The residents are demanding an immediate end to the menace that is negatively affecting their lives.
According to the residents, the rates at which the open pits are claiming the lives of people are alarming. They aslo noted that there has been a decline in their harvest as a result of the destruction of their farmlands.
Opinion Leader Oteng Mensah said all plans to meet with the mining company to discuss possible means of solving the problem have proven futile.
Meanwhile, the road leading to the community is also in deplorable state as residents agitate.
