Members of the Gas Tanker Drivers Association have threatened an industrial strike against its leadership over alleged abuse of power.
In a press conference on Monday in Tema, the gas tanker drivers alleged that there have not been any elections for the past eleven (11) years since the establishment of the association, which is contrary to the constitution of their Association.
Meanwhile, Article 3 of the Gas Tanker Drivers Association By-Laws says there shall be an election every four (4) years to elect its executives and eligible leaders.
Since 2012, the interim leaders have refused to pave the way for the conduct of elections and account to their members as to where their monies are being held or saved.
The Tanker Drivers added that they have paid a daily ticket since the establishment of the association, but there is no accountability to them.
They are therefore calling on TUC, Labour Commission and the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) to intervene.
