The Ghana Bar Association (GBA), through its Women’s Forum, has donated assorted food items, toiletries, and GH¢5,000 in cash to the Osu Children’s Home as part of activities marking this year’s Mother’s Day celebrations.

The donation was presented jointly by the President of the GBA, Lawyer Mrs. Afua Ghartey, and the President of the GBA Women’s Forum, Mrs. Sheila Minkah-Premo.

Speaking during the presentation, Mrs. Ghartey underscored the GBA’s commitment to giving back to society, especially on occasions such as Mother’s Day.

“For us, it is a joyous occasion to be here today,” she said. “Mother’s Day is a special day for the Bar, and we celebrate it nationwide. Across the country this week, regional Bar branches are making donations to institutions like this to show that lawyers are not only present in courtrooms, but also active participants in community development.”

She encouraged the children at the facility to be inspired by the visit, adding: “Some of these children may gain the inspiration to pursue careers in law in the future. We are here to share what we have and remind them that their dreams are valid.”

Mrs. Ghartey commended Mrs. Minkah-Premo, who also chairs the GBA’s Women and Minority Rights Committee, for her consistent leadership in organizing the annual outreach program over the past four years.

“As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we remember our children here. The GBA has both men and women, and while the women are mothers, many of the men are nurturing figures as well. We are here to show love to these children and contribute to their welfare,” she added.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Osu Children’s Home, Social Worker Madam Priscilla Asare expressed profound gratitude to the GBA for their continued support.

“Mother’s Day is a significant occasion for our children, as they are nurtured and groomed by our dedicated caregivers. This gesture means a lot to us,” she said.

The Osu Children’s Home is a government-run residential facility that provides care and support for orphaned and vulnerable children.
