The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) marked International Women’s Day 2025 on Friday, March 7, with a strong emphasis on empowering women entrepreneurs and expanding market opportunities for their businesses.
Speaking at the event, GEA Chief Executive Officer Ms. Margaret Ansei underscored this year’s theme, “Accelerating Growth to Empower Women and Expand Markets.”
She highlighted key initiatives aimed at fostering economic opportunities for women-led businesses, including the Ghana Mall, a Trade Facilitation Hub designed to connect female entrepreneurs with larger local and international markets.
Ms. Ansei also outlined a visionary plan for a Women’s Development Bank, which would provide tailored financial support for women entrepreneurs. She reiterated President Mahama’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for women-led enterprises through his 24-hour economy agenda.
The celebration featured an exhibition of innovative products by women entrepreneurs, offering a platform for networking and business collaboration. The event brought together key stakeholders and dignitaries, including Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, Head of Workforce Development at Mastercard Foundation Emelia Ayipio Asamoah, Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei, and National School Feeding Coordinator Hajia Fati Forgor.
Other notable guests included National Coordinator for Women with Disabilities Joyce Gyamfi; Members of the Council of State Evelyn Korang, Ambassador Anim Molly, and Cynthia Komley Adjetey; Agona East MP Hon. Queenstar Pokuaa Sawyer; Awutu Senya East MP Hon. Naa Koryor Okunnor; Founder of Ignite Youth Empowerment Initiative Obuobia Darko; NEIP CEO Eric Adjei; and Deputy NSS Director Ms. Ruth Dela Seddoh.
