As part of the ongoing 85th and 86th LEAP Grant Payment Exercise nationwide, Mrs. Lariba Zuweira Abudu, the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, carried out a comprehensive monitoring exercise on the 5th of September 2023.

The payment cycles for the 85th and 86th grants will be disbursed collectively to beneficiary households, marking a significant milestone in the LEAP programme’s operation.

Accompanied by Dr. Afisah Zakariah, the Chief Director, along with some Ministry officials, the team embarked on visits to various LEAP payment sites located in the Ada West District of the Greater Accra Region.

The Minister’s primary objective during the monitoring exercise was to observe the payment process and engage directly with the beneficiaries.

While speaking to the beneficiaries, Mrs. Lariba Zuweira Abudu emphasized that the LEAP initiative is designed to enhance access to critical social services, foster productive engagement among beneficiaries, and alleviate household consumption challenges.

Furthermore, she highlighted that the LEAP aims to empower beneficiaries to modify their behaviours in response to the persistent challenges of poverty.

Ultimately, this endeavour aligns with Ghana’s national development goals and contributes to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

As a result of the joint payment, households with a single eligible member will receive an amount of Two Hundred and Fifty-Six Ghana Cedis (GH₵256.00). Households with two eligible members will be granted Three Hundred and Four Ghana Cedis (GH₵304.00). Those with three eligible members will receive Three Hundred and Fifty-Two Ghana Cedis (GH₵352.00), while households containing four or more eligible members will receive Four Hundred and Twenty-Four Ghana Cedis (GH₵424.00).

LEAP remains a vital social cash transfer program aimed at providing support to Ghana’s most economically vulnerable households.
