Following her successful working visits to the Western and Central Regions, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Lariba Zuweira Abudu, undertook a similar mission in the Greater Accra Region on 4th and 5th September, 2023.
The Minister was accompanied by the Chief Director, Dr. Afisah Zakariah, and some Directors representing the Ministry and the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).
The main objective was to supervise and evaluate the ongoing initiatives and activities of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) within the Greater Accra Region.
As part of the working visit, the Minister and her team paid a courtesy call on the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey, where both Ministers engaged in productive discussions aimed at enhancing the programme.
The monitoring exercise also served as an important platform for the Minister and her team to engage with the media where she provided insight into the Ministry’s recent endeavors and noteworthy accomplishments.
Relevant topics that were discussed encompassed the School Feeding Programme, the 85th and 86th LEAP Monitoring Exercises, streetism, and the progress of the Affirmative Action Bill.
Madam Lariba and her team also visited some selected schools in the Region including the Police Depot School at Tesano to monitor the effectiveness of the school feeding programme on pupils and also interact with them.
The team also interacted with GSFP caterers in the Region, where the Minister reaffirmed Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that all pupils benefit from the programme.
