As part of the nationwide celebration of Green Ghana Day, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has undertaken a significant tree planting exercise.

This initiative, which highlights the Ministry’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action, saw the active participation of key officials including the Minister – Hon. Dakoa Newman, the Chief Director – Dr. Afisah Zakariah, and several Directors.

The tree planting event, held at the Ministry’s premises, aimed to contribute to the broader Green Ghana agenda of increasing the country’s forest cover and promoting ecological health.

Hon. Dakoa Newman emphasized the critical role trees play in combating climate change, enhancing air quality, and providing habitats for wildlife.

“By planting these trees, we are not only beautifying our environment but also ensuring a healthier, more sustainable future for our children,” the Minister stated.

The Chief Director, Dr. Afisah Zakariah added that such activities foster a sense of responsibility towards nature among citizens, particularly the younger generation.

This initiative underscores the Ministry’s dedication to integrating environmental consciousness into its programmes and policies.

The tree planting exercise by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection serves as a call to action for all Ghanaians to participate in preserving and nurturing the environment for future generations.
