The Ghana Education Service (GES), has strongly condemned the violent incident which occurred at Adisadel College.
A video circulating on social media shows how a student was strangled by another at the boys’ dormitory of the school.
In the video, one of the students, who had locked the other with his arm around his neck, hit the victim’s face against a metal bed, causing blood to ooze from his face.
GES in a statement has described the incident as “barbaric,” and indicated that it has directed its regional director to work together with the school authorities and the police to ensure that the matter is brought to a close.
“Management is deeply concerned and condemns this barbaric act of violence in our schools. We applaud the school authorities for taking swift action to suspend the culprit pending further investigations.
“Management has directed the Regional Director of Education to liaise with the school authorities and the relevant law enforcement agency to investigate for appropriate action,” the statement said.
The GES assured the general public that they will do everything possible to ensure the safety of all students across the country.
