The reopening date for Senior High School (SHS) form three (3) students have been rescheduled for 5th May 2021. The students initially were to return to school today, 6th April, 2021.

The Ghana Education Service also noted that the directive applies to form three (3) students in both single and double track schools.

“Further details will be announced. All other arrangements on the calendar remain unchanged”. – The statement said

The GES says the change in date is to give the students more time to prepare for their final exams

Last month, GES postponed the reopening for SHS freshers to March 18 through to March 21.

The Deputy Director-General, Anthony Boateng, in a press release said the action is to give students who have had issues with self-placement time to complete the process.

Also, he encouraged others who have not completed their school’s admission process to use the extension to complete the process.

The Service added that the rescheduling will also help parents have adequate time to prepare their kids for school as well as give schools additional time needed to prepare to welcome them.

GES has also urged parents to ensure that their children leave home with adequate nose masks to protect themselves amid Covid-19, while management of schools has also been tasked to ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.
