The Ghana Education Service has released funds to senior high and technical schools nationwide to cover 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) practical examination fees.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations of the Service.
“The Management of the Ghana Education Service announces that funds have been released to all Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools across the country to cover the fees for the 2026 WASSCE practicals,” the statement said.
GES explained that the disbursement is intended to ensure the smooth conduct of practical examinations across all participating schools.
“This payment ensures that all practical examinations scheduled for the 2026 WASSCE are fully supported, including the provision of the required materials and other essential resources,” it noted.
The Service added that the intervention is also aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and guardians while enabling candidates to concentrate on their academic work.
“With the release of the funds, GES seeks to facilitate a smooth and well-coordinated examination process that enables students to focus on their academic work, while relieving parents and guardians of any such financial burden,” the statement added.
GES further urged authorities at the regional, district and school levels to ensure proper use of the funds to achieve the intended purpose.
“Regional, district and school authorities are strongly urged to ensure the due application of the funds for their intended purpose to guarantee efficiency and accountability,” it stressed.
Management also indicated it will monitor how the funds are utilised to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
“Management will continue to monitor the utilisation processes to ensure compliance and to maintain high standards in the administration of the examination,” the statement said.
The Service expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their cooperation in advancing quality education and supporting students’ success.
