The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted three staff members of Tsito Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Volta Region following allegations of misconduct involving the diversion of student food supplies.

The interdicted individuals include Rev. Joy Kafui Akpebu, the Headmaster; Sylvanus Awunyo, the Storekeeper; and Samuel Kwame Ampeh, the School Driver.

According to reports, the trio is alleged to have diverted 100 cartons of tin tomatoes meant for student meals. This decision to interdict them aligns with Section 8, Clauses (i-v) of the GES Code of Conduct, which permits the suspension of staff suspected of activities that could interfere with ongoing investigations.

In a statement, the GES emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its operations and ensuring accountability among its staff.

“The interdiction is a precautionary measure to allow for a thorough investigation into the matter without undue interference. GES remains committed to upholding high ethical standards and safeguarding the welfare of students,” the statement read.

The alleged diversion of food supplies has sparked concerns among stakeholders in the education sector, as such actions could undermine the quality of education and student well-being. Parents and community members have called for swift action to ensure that the culprits, if found guilty, face appropriate sanctions.

As the investigation unfolds, the GES has assured the public of its resolve to address the issue transparently and take necessary disciplinary measures against any individuals found culpable.

Meanwhile, interim arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth running of Tsito SHTS and the uninterrupted provision of meals to students.

The incident has reignited conversations around the need for stricter monitoring mechanisms in schools to prevent the mismanagement of resources meant for student welfare.

The outcome of this investigation is eagerly awaited as the GES works to restore trust and accountability within the system.
